USRA President’s Report
July 2008

Board Update

Many of you may have heard by now that Chris Justus has resigned his position as president of the USRA. I would like to personally and publicly thank Chris for his service to the sport of giant scale racing. What most people may not know is that Chris, for many years, spent countless hours promoting giant scale racing throughout the country.  He has attended many shows and conventions, manning the USRA booth and being a great ambassador for the USRA.

Thank you Chris!

Current Business:

Time is short as we all get ready for the race in Ohio. It does not matter how long you have to get ready, it=s always a race at the end. One thing that sometimes gets overlooked is to let Tony know you are going to be there. Get your entries in and order any tents, golf carts and equipment that you may need. This way Tony can have final numbers.

Lastly, this is a tough year for our sport. With the economy changing, fuel prices rising and for some, job changes, we now have many more obstacles to get to a race. Additionally, promoters are making tough choices in their planned races. No one wants to have a race that few people show up to. Also, no promoter wants to have a race that will put him at risk of losing money. We, as members of the USRA, will have to face these issues head on and find solutions. The board will be asking the membership for ideas. We have a great pool of knowledge and we need to make the best use of that base. As we move forward this year, we will be asking for input on ideas that we think have merit. This is the member=s organization and we will work together as a team to make it grow.
